Cross-calture management - Essay ExampleResearchers studying the success of cultural diversity programs have identified models that gouge be implemented into organizational environments. Having support for of senior management for diversity programs is identified as a major theme among most of the program models (Matton & Hernandez, 2004 Jayne & Dipboye 2004). This paper will examine the background of diversity in organizations, benefits of workplace diversity, challenges of diversity, popular diversity management models, the relevant investigate related to the importance of having support of senior management for diversity programs, and the individuals responsible for implementing diversity programs, that is, the diversity practitioner. Overview Workplace Diversity and its Importance Diversity can be delimitate as, a mix of people of different socially relevant gathering identities working or living together in a defined social system (Cox & Beale, 1997, p.13). Healthy workpla ce diversity can provide an organization with the tools to improve problem solving, enhance marketing, be more creative and flexible, and ultimately improve productivity and the bottom line (Thomas, 2006 Cox, 1994). While a company may recruit in order to frame a climate of diversity, it can simultaneously open the door to truly hiring the best available talent in the global market instead of another company man. Diversity promotes a multiplicity of viewpoints, thus creating the potential to generate more creative ideas and stimulate consideration of non obvious alternatives (Kyriakidou, 2009). Further, diverse groups bring a broader and richer base of experience. This dynamic tends to create a higher level of critical analysis and a lower probability of group think (Cox, 1994). For example, studies show that women tend to be more extensive of ambiguity than men. As a result, they tend to excel in completing tasks that are cognitively complex and/or ambiguous. Individuals with bi lingual capabilities are another group that demonstrates a great capacity for flexibility. Thus, workgroups that incorporate individuals with these characteristics are likely to demonstrate greater group cognitive flexibility (Cox, 1994). With the minority population growing, organizations are finding the need to adapt products, advertising and services to appeal to diverse interests. Studies show that members of minority cultural groups are more likely to give patronage to representatives of their proclaim cultural group (Cox, 1994). Thus, organizations find the need to have their workforce mirror, at least in part, their clientele. In the for-profit sector, it has been seen that the evolving demographics in the United States have had a substantive impact on the manner in which products currently need to be marketed in order to maintain or increase market shares. For example, Cox (1994) notes cardinal examples of cosmetic companies, Avon and Maybelline, changing either their pr oduct or transferring the management of an otherwise unprofitable market of minorities, to people of color. Under different management these companies have commensurate their products using shades that are more palatable to people of color and have reflected these changes in their advertisement. Examining a domain of experience, relationship, and application of the themes in the course in relation to hu universe development and identity - Essay mannequinThis essay will analyze identity formation, ego identity, in relation to frigid fritter away.Ego identity and identity formation is evident in the Frozen film by Disney. As the norm is, lots of women in the Disney movies have been indicated to rely on a male figure to emancipate them from societal and heathen issues, such as Cinderella and Snow White amongst others. However, the case of Disneys Frozen film is different. In the film, it is evident that the women have opted to outdo the heterosexual dominance that overpowers them. The film focuses on 2 sisters, Anna and Elsa that have been confronted with life issues but opt not to use a male hero to fulfil their desires (Buck & Lee, 2013). From this perspective, one would argue that the two sisters developed a feminine identity in the course of her growth that motivated t hem her to work towards fighting with the constraints that prevent women from succeeding in a mans world.Even with the societal conceptualizations of female identity, the Frozen sisters had already identified their ego identity and worked towards fulfilling their wishes despite the challenges in question. However, as the story begins, the two sisters lacked eminence while living in the royal court. Elsa had the ability and powers to control ice and snow. Psychological distinction separates the two sisters when Elsa injures Anna by mistake (Buck & Lee, 2013). Jenny Holzer Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words

Jenny Holzer - Research Paper ExampleModern viewer wants to come, to see and to grasp the approximation at once. Perhaps, due to these features of our contemporary life art take on responds with new techniques more suitable for perceiving by contemporary people. One of these techniques is test-as-image. Long before, Jasper Johns placed familiar images and stenciled spoken language on equal footing thus giving birth to a new direction in art. To introduce art and text I prolong chosen Jenny Holzer, who, among modern artists, perhaps more than anyone, has restricted contemporary art to text. For more than 30 years this conceptual artist has been creating the relationship mingled with didactic text and image. In her works she manages to reflect the bitter realities of our everyday life so strongly and vividly that her messages are clear for everyone despite of education, direct of cultural development and view of life. In the late 70s she filled the streets of Lower Manhattan with her posters contained Nietzsche-like Truisms. First this look strange and was not accepted as works of art but later it turned out that in her works Jenny Holzer acted as art worlds soothsayer. She foresees and expresses important aspects of our life, for example, her best known apothegm reads Abuse of power comes as no surprise. Isnt this what we can see in politics? For Jenny Holzer text means much if not everything. At first she wrote her own texts but later started using the texts written by other famous, well-known people, such as the Polish Nobel laureate Wislawa Szymborska, Henri Cole (USA), Elfriede Jelinek (Austria), Fadhil Al-Azawi (Iraq), Yehuda Amichai (Israel) and Mahmoud Darwish (Palestine). wherefore are her works getting more and more popular today? I think the reason is that they are burning. They are not aimed at pleasant out aesthetic needs, they do not please our eyes with bright colors, beautiful sceneries, and interesting faces. Holzers works are aimed at u ncovering the realities. This is why they are full of violence, sexuality, oppression, power, war and death. At the same time they seem to have mercy upon our feelings as all these things are depicted not through the images but mostly through the text. With her works Jenny Holzer makes us think and understand the life, which surrounds us. She brings to light and shows us something that was in shade and in silence, something that was intended to be hidden. Most of jenny Holzer works impress me greatly I adore her ability to perfectly combine text and image. She does it so precisely that you can tag on nothing to this everything is already expressed by only a few words. She applies texts from different contexts governmental documents or passages from de-classified US Army documents from the war in Iraq. For pattern one of her LED works presents passages from the minutes of interrogations of American soldiers who had committed human rights violations and war crimes in Abu Ghraib ( Walleston). Thus she wants to make public what was once hidden. Depicting dyed dirty aspects of her country and citizens life Janny seems to repent American sins before the whole world and warn Americans of possibility to fall into the fire of war, violence and hatred. In my work I would like to draw attention to the hardest political edge of Holzers works Redaction Paintings. They are huge black-and-white silkscreens presenting the passages from de-classified governmental documents blacked out by censors. They vividly expose the secret deeds

The desire to follow an Expressionist style was equally widespread in literature, drama, stage design, dance, film and architecture (8). This being said, Expressionism in Germany comes as a complex and omnipresent phenomenon, which crosses the boundaries of fine art and greatly affects all areas of human notional activity. Simultaneously, as Expressionism affected creative activities in Germany, so was Expressionism influenced by the political and social climate in the country. Reducing Energy Consumption in Residence Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Reducing Energy Consumption in Residence - Essay ExampleHowever, there is induction (Herring, H., Roy, R., 2002) to show that using energy (and in particular electricity) more efficiently does not necessarily lead to a reduction in energy theatrical role. Indeed there is evidence that using energy more effectively actually tends to increase its use - given the opportunity people prefer to be warmer, rather than to reduce the woo of heating for example. (This, and other examples of the Rebound Effect are discussed in a wide range of studies, some of which are listed below) Given this, it would seem that enabling students to use energy more effectively and economically may serve not to decrease its consumption, but rather to increase it.There is a growing edit out now towards a principal of the polluter pays (OConner, M.,1997, chap.1) by which is meant that there is a fiscal cost of pollution (including greenhouse gasses) and that those responsible for its creation should be nece ssary to bear its economic cost. There is also a tendency for suppliers of services (particularly in the energy market) to unbundle their services, allowing consumers to see clearly what they are buying and at what cost. It would be possible for the University to combine these two trends, and to separately charge students for their energy use, instead of as at present including this in their overall accommodation charges. In doing so students would then become aware of exactly how much they are paying for energy, and be incentivised to manage their consumption.

Is Google maling us stupid Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Is Google maling us stupid - Essay ExampleKnowledge was now a living and breathing thing that, although not physical in appearance, had a direct and positive effect on the minds of society as people were coerce to memorize the spoken word. Then the advent of writing came about and now we had a permanent record of all these teachings to look back on anytime that we needed to. However, this knowledge was now incomplete in its solid form. It was no semipermanent that easy to add new information to it because of the difficulties posed by the writing method of the time. And yet, we someways managed to continue to grow this databank of information for succeeding(a) use. When typewriters were invented, the world of learning changed forever as it now became easier to understand the written word. Books and newspapers, these were the icing on the cake at the time. It helped people collect knowledge that they deemed important for themselves and their closest family members and friends. But that was not the end of the evolution of knowledge. Then, television came and allowed us to not only hear about the information that could be gleaned from books, now, we could also see it in actuality and discover the wonders of learning in a totally new way. Thanks to television, we saw the past of the knowledge that we had but also, managed to see its future as well. And this electronic piece of technology was already considered the biggest threat to learning by most academicians and scholars because they entangle that the brain was no longer functioning the way it should be. That is, reading and remembering the information that was passing through it. That belief proved to be unfounded and zip fastener but the fear of people who did not understand how learning and knowledge were fast evolving and becoming an ev en more relevant part of the daily lives of people. And that academic and scholarly argument is the very same argument that is now being used by the very same people to prove that the internet and research engines in particular are stunting the growth of the human brain. If only these people would get over their fear of technology and the way that it changes the learning process of man for the better, maybe they would ultimately see that mankind is actually reaching a learning type of maturity that was not available to him before. These people argue that because all the answers to all the questions bingle has, regardless of how inane it is, can be found through the internet and the use of a search engine then man no longer knows how to research, discern the statements he is reading, and most disturbingly, he no longer has the ability to remembe r information because he just needs to bookmark the information for future reference. Thus turning our brains into a pile of mush. In reality, the search engines are a highly beneficial tool for those who wish to further learn and further knowledge about specific topics. Gone are the times of sitting in a dusty old library going through slews of reading material, poring over them for significant information for days on end. These days, knowledge
